MenuLens help and support
Answers to common questions, how to reach a person, and how to delete your account and data.
Email us
Tell us your phone model and the app version, shown at the bottom of the You tab. If it’s about a menu, attach the photo or a screenshot.
Spotted a wrong dish?
Open the dish and tap Report a mistake. It starts an email with the menu and the dish already filled in, so we can fix how menus are read.
Common questions
Does MenuLens need an internet connection?
To scan a menu or ask a question, yes, because menus are read on our servers. Menus you’ve already scanned stay on your phone and open without a connection, though dish photos may not load.
How many menus can I scan a day?
5 a day as a guest and 30 a day when you sign in, both free. The count resets at midnight UTC, which is 10 or 11 in the morning in Sydney and Melbourne, depending on daylight saving. Opening a menu you’ve already scanned doesn’t use a scan.
Is Ask the menu free?
Yes. Guests get 3 questions to try it. Sign in with Google or Apple, also free, to ask as many as you like.
Why is a dish amber or grey?
Amber means the dish might contain something you avoid, the menu doesn’t say, it has an ingredient you’d rather skip, it’s hotter than your spice setting, or MenuLens wasn’t sure what it read. Grey means there isn’t enough information to judge it against your profile. Either way, ask the restaurant before you order.
MenuLens got a dish wrong. What should I do?
Please tell us. Open the dish and tap Report a mistake, or email us the photo. If you have an allergy, always check with the restaurant before you eat. AI can misread a menu, and menus don’t always list everything.
How do I change my diet and allergy profile?
Tap You, then What you eat. Changes apply straight away, including to menus you’ve already scanned.
How do I change the language or currency?
Tap You, then Translate menus into or Show prices in.
Does MenuLens use my location?
Only if you turn on Tag the restaurant’s location, in the You tab or when you scan. It’s used to help recognise the cuisine and currency, and to save where you ate with the menu. With it off, MenuLens never reads your location.
Which accounts can I sign in with?
Google and Apple. When you sign in, the menus and preferences you set up as a guest move into your account.
Delete your account and data
This applies to MenuLens, the app by Inventum Technologies Pty Ltd on Google Play and the App Store. You can delete your account in the app or by email.
In the app
- Open MenuLens and tap You.
- Under Account, tap Delete account.
- Confirm. If you signed in a while ago, you’ll be asked to sign in again first. It’s a security check.
What’s deleted, and what’s kept
- Deleted straight away: your account, your saved menus with their photos and notes, your diet and allergy preferences, and your daily scan counters.
- Kept without your ID: usage records (date, number of pages, dishes found, processing cost) are stripped of your ID so they can’t be linked back to you, and deleted within 24 months.
- Not linked to your account: crash reports and app analytics expire on their own after 90 days and 2 months. The shared menu cache holds only what restaurants printed, not who scanned it, and expires after 12 months.
- Emails you sent us are kept for up to 3 years after your last message. Ask us if you’d like them deleted sooner.
Without the app
Email support@inventum.com.au from the address you signed in with, with the subject “Delete my account”. We’ll confirm it’s you, then delete your account and data within 30 days, usually much sooner.
If you signed in with Apple and chose Hide My Email, your account uses a private relay address. Say so in your email and we’ll find your account another way.
If you only used MenuLens as a guest
Uninstalling the app removes your profile and recent menus from your phone. Photos you scanned are deleted from our servers on the usual 7-day schedule. The usage records left behind sit under an anonymous ID that isn’t linked to your name or email. To remove them straight away, sign in and then delete your account.
Remove MenuLens from your Apple or Google account
Deleting your account also ends MenuLens’s access to your Apple or Google sign-in. You can check it yourself:
- Apple: on your iPhone, open Settings, tap your name, then Sign-In & Security, then Sign in with Apple, and choose MenuLens.
- Google: open myaccount.google.com/connections, choose MenuLens and delete the connection.
