About Foodglot
Foodglot is a menu translator app for people who want to know what they're about to eat, wherever they are, whatever they can't eat.
What we make
Foodglot reads a photo of a menu in any language and turns it into a menu you can read: every dish translated and explained, a reference photo, likely ingredients, the price in your currency, and a red, amber or green flag against your own diet and allergy profile. You can scan without an account, and the app is free.
Alongside the app we publish free guides: how to read menus in 14 food cultures, a glossary of 84 dishes and what's in them, and guides to 15 allergens with their names in 14 languages and the labelling rules country by country.
How we write and check our guides
People with severe allergies and coeliac disease read these pages, so a wrong claim is worse than no claim.
- Primary sources first. Labelling rules are checked against the regulator's own pages (for example the EU regulation, the US FDA, Food Standards Australia New Zealand, the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Japan's Consumer Affairs Agency). Each guide lists its sources.
- Usually, often, sometimes. For every dish we say whether an allergen is in the standard recipe, in many versions, or only in some kitchens. Recipes vary, so every page tells you to confirm with the restaurant.
- Dated. Every guide shows when it was last checked, and we recheck when the rules change.
- Corrections. If you spot a mistake, email support@inventum.com.au and we'll fix it.
Our guides are general information. They're not medical advice, and they're no substitute for the plan your doctor or dietitian gave you.

Foodglot translates the whole menu from one photo, shows each dish and flags anything that clashes with your diet or allergies. Free, no signup to scan.
